Steve Van Vlaenderen’s journey with Parkinson Disease has shaped every step of his creative work.
Photography became a way for him to stay connected to the world around him and to channel his energy into something meaningful. As the disease progressed, Steve continued to explore, document, and preserve the stories found in old vehicles that time had almost forgotten. These moments behind the camera allowed him to express resilience, purpose, and a commitment to raising awareness for others living with Parkinson Disease.
From this journey, Vanishing Wheels was born. The 125-page Special Edition hard copy brings together Steve’s photographic homage to vehicles resting in what may be their final places. Set in fields, behind barns, and within overgrown landscapes, each image reflects both the past and the determination that fuels Steve’s work today. Proceeds from every book sold are donated to Parkinson Canada to help advance research and support programs across the country.
